Camden Suspect Arrested for Paulsboro Homicide


Daron Trent (DOB 10/17/84) of 1290 Nottingham Way, Hamilton, NJ has been arrested and charged with the November 30, 2011 homicide of Mr. Jamaal Barker, age 25, of 1029 South 8th Street in Camden, NJ.  


Officers from the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office, Paulsboro Police Department, and Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office investigated.  The U.S. Marshal’s Taskforce-Trenton Division as well as the NJSP ES Unit also assisted with the investigation. Mr. Jamaal Barker was shot and killed on November, 30, 2011 at approximately 10 PM in the area of 324 West Washington Street in Paulsboro, NJ.  He died at the scene as a result of multiple gunshot wounds.  Mr. Barker is survived by his parents and two children. 


On December 14, 2011, Daron Trent was formally charged with homicide and related weapons offenses.  He is incarcerated in Mercer County Correctional Facility.  Bail is currently set at $750,000.  


“We were able to get this dangerous individual off our streets as a result of the hard work, tenacity and cooperation of the many law enforcement agencies involved,” said Gloucester County Prosecutor Sean F. Dalton.
