Residents Actions And Police Neighborhood Patrols Stop Would Be Car Burglar

BurglarOn November 12, 2011 at approximately 01:13 AM, Ptl. E. Marconi #232 was actively patrolling the streets of the Heritage Hill development off of Sicklerville Road and located a suspicious male walking through the streets of the neighborhood. The male, Kent Jackson, age 22, from Ware Street in the City of Camden, New Jersey, spoke with the officer who stopped to see if he could be of any assistance. While the officer was speaking with the male there were conflicting stories as to why he was in the area and a further investigation revealed that Kent Jackson was actually attempting to burglarize vehicles in this neighborhood.

Fortunately numerous vehicles in this area were found locked by Kent Jackson thankfully due to these residents being proactive. The burglary and theft from autos is strictly a crime of opportunity. By simply locking your car doors you take away the opportunity.

The Gloucester Township Police would like to remind residents that one of the most important things you can do is call the police to report a crime or any suspicious activity. You have to be the best eyes and ears in your neighborhood.

The accused, Kent Jackson, was arrested for Criminal Attempt Burglary and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and released pending a court hearing.
