Gloucester Township Police Arrest Shoplifting Suspects And Solve Residential Burglary

On November 21, 2011 Gloucester Township Police responded to the 7-11 Store on Evesham Road (case 11- 48895) for a report of a subject that had stolen 15 packs of cigarettes. During the course of that investigating a second call was received from the Wawa Store (11-48898) located on Somerdale Road in Gloucester Township for an attempted Shoplifting where the suspect attempted to steal cigarettes. The description of the suspect in both incidents was similar. Investigating officers developed a potential suspect based upon the suspect description and a vehicle seen fleeing the area.

This information was provided to the Gloucester Township Police Department's Operations Response Unit who began surveillance on the potential suspect's residence on Grand Avenue when they observed a person matching the description return to the home. The suspect resisted arrest when approached by officers and was taken into custody at which time a controlled dangerous substance was discovered on the male.

The male, Christopher Coller, was interviewed by Detectives and subsequently charged with the two convenience store shopliftings. Additionally, Detectives were able to solve an earlier reported burglary investigation and charged Coller for committing that crime in his own Blackwood development. Lastly, the brother of the accused, Paul Coller, was also charged for his involvement in the shopliftings with his brother by driving him to the stores to commit the crimes.

Gloucester Township Police Chief W. Harry Earle states, "Our agency realizes that shopliftings, thefts and burglaries have direct connections to drug crimes. As this arrest clearly demonstrates, we aggressively enforce and use our resources to solve crimes that impact the safety of our community."
