Gloucester Township Police Arrest Scrap Metal

6a00d8341bf7d953ef0115711c08f7970b-320wi On November 12, 2011 at approximately 10:11 pm, Ptl Nicholas Bersani was conducting enhanced police patrols in the Guelietta Construction property, which is located on Davistown Road in response to recent rash of scrap metal thefts throughout the region during the overnight hours.

At this time, Ptl Bersani located a vehicle in the rear of the property that attempted to flee the area, however, Ptl. Bersani was able to stop it before it could leave the scene. Upon making contact with the vehicle's two occupants, it was readily apparent that the two were removing scrap metal from the business as their sport utility vehicle was at capacity and weighted down with the heavy scrap metal. The investigation determined that the two were not related to the business and indeed stealing the metal.

The accused, Michael Lasky (age 23, 100 block of Walt Whitman Blvd, Cherry Hill, NJ), and Austin Goettelmann (age 22, 1500 block of Little Gloucester Rd, Blackwood, NJ) were both charged with Theft by Unlawful Taking and Defiant Trespassing.

Goettelmann was additionally charged with possession of CDS Paraphernalia. Both were remanded to Camden County Correctional Facility in lieu of bail.
