Ephs give strong effort at New England Championships

BOSTON -- Williams hit the road to test itself against Division I competition, and placed 9th out of 26 teams in the New England Championships.
Senior Josephat Koima was the first Eph to cover the 8K course. In a varsity field of nearly 200 runners, his time of 25:41 placed him 35th overall. Senior Jack Fitzhenry finished in 25:53 for 44th place followed by freshman Colin Cotton in 25:59 for 54th position. Scott Rodilitz and Wade Davis rounded out the top 5 in 26:04 (64th) and 26:21 (83rd).
The Ephs showed their depth of talent with a 2nd place finish in the sub varsity race. Sophomores Max Laberge and Chris Lee finished 3rd and 4th in 26:11 and 26:14 respectively. Matt Wyatt and Steve Mendoza also had breakout performances, finish 10th and 29th overall.
Williams' 277 points in the varsity race was 4th among Division III teams in the race, behind fourth place Middlebury (221 points), sixth place MIT (244 points), and eighth place Tufts (274 points). Although the finish was not the Ephs's strongest of the season, considering illnesses to 4 of the top seven runners, they gave a strong team effort.
