at 8th Annual Community “Clean-Up Day”

Washington Township, NJ - (October 18, 2011)

As both a volunteer and sponsor of “Clean-Up Day”, Mayoral Candidate Kevin Murphy said, WL4A Support Ad“We are thankful for organizations like the Washington Township Environmental Commission, since without organizations like these, our natural resources would ultimately suffer the repercussions of pollution and littering. It is important to unite our community and today’s youth toward understanding environmental importance and this organization has successfully accomplished this.”

This annual event is organized by the Washington Township Environmental Commission, composed of resident volunteers and sponsors committed to making a difference. The Washington Township Environmental Commission’s objective and purpose is to promote conservation and development of the municipality’s natural resources and to provide educational leadership.

Kevin Murphy further noted, “You do not realize how much litter is discarded along Washington Township roads until you volunteer to help out a great cause like “Clean-Up Day” organized by the Environmental Commission. It was great to see the number of volunteers that devoted their time to make a personal difference.”

The event concluded with a bar-be-cue picnic in the park, where all volunteers had lunch at Washington Lake Park’s picnic pavilion. Lunch included donated food items from local food stores and businesses, including New Jersey Senate Candidate Giancarlo D’Orazio’s donation of gelato’s compliments of LaGelato.
