OPINION: BELLMAWR MAYOR AND COUNCIL LACK LEADERSHIP
Thursday, October 20, 2011
As a citizen of Bellmawr, I am not at all surprised by the recent comments attributed to our Mayor regarding the possibility of the U.S. Postal Service being relocated.
He passed it off that he thought it was a prank call. What if it was? Why would the elected leader of Bellmawr even consider saying something so careless?
But again, I am not surprised. All one has to do is attend a Council meeting, and witness first-hand how our Mayor conducts himself towards any resident who dares question the Mayor and Council. He mentions the fact that they’re not paying any taxes. Whose fault is it? It’s Mayor and Council for allowing this to happen.
In my opinion, it is a lack of leadership on their part. Mayor and Council literally and figuratively look down upon the residents when attending a council meeting.
Nothing will change until residents of Bellmawr elect new leadership that seeks to create and maintain businesses and create jobs for residents of Bellmawr. I look forward to the day when Bellmawr has another person occupying the Mayor’s office.
It would be nice to have a Mayor that actually meets and greets a resident, for instance, when a resident visits town hall to conduct any type of business.
