Pet Tip of the Week: Professional Pet Sitters -cnbnews.net

Begging by Dawn Watson

Ok, so you decide that, this year, you and the family will go to Disney World for 4 days, 3 nights. This will be GREAT! The rides, the excitement, the budget, kid-friendly resort…

Hey, wait a minute—what about FIDO?!

Your dog cannot stay alone and untended for more than about 9 hours at a time. He will need to be walked, fed, given water, and played with by someone at least 3 times in any 24-hour period. A dog left alone may become destructive and will surely be lonesome unless you or someone else takes care of his needs. A professional pet sitter might be the answer.

Your pet sitter should be able to supply you with references, be bonded, and belong to at least one professional organization. He or she should have a philosophy you can live with, a reliable contact number, and a price list. It’s important that you call the references to be certain the sitter is responsible and well-liked. Interview her at least a month ahead of time and introduce her to your pets to see if they get along. Remember, she will have a key to your home, so make sure she is trustworthy!

If you are interested in having a professional care for your pets while you are away please email me or call me at 856-981-8957. I’ll be glad to introduce you to several wonderful colleagues!

Next week’s topic will be your choice so send me an email with a topic you’d like to discuss! Brotherofthewolf@comcast.net . As always Cleary’s notebook encourages dialogue so your comments are welcome!

Wado, udohiyu, (thank you very much, in the Cherokee language)
