NBA Star To Auction Jerseys for Underprivileged Youth

CAMDEN, NJ: On Saturday August 20th, 2011 the Camden Riversharks will be hosting a jersey auction to support local basketball star Jason Thompson’s foundation and the L.I.V.E. Like JT Campaign.  Throughout the night Thompson will be available for pictures and autographs with Riversharks fans at the game.

Thompson grew up in Mount Laurel, NJ and attended

Lenape High School and was on the 2004 New Jersey State Championship Varsity Basketball Game.  He was the starting center of the Rider University men's basketball team until 2008, and was selected 12th overall by the Sacramento Kings in the 2008 NBA Draft. With the L.I.V.E. like JT campaign, Jason hopes to give back to the community where he grew up. As a part of that greater community, the Camden Riversharks are eager to help. As a special offer from the Riversharks, anyone with a Lenape or Rider University ID will receive free admission to the game.

During the 5:35pm game the Riversharks will be wearing specially designed jerseys that will be auctioned off to fans during the game.  L. I .V.E. Like JT is a campaign designed to encourage children to strive towards academic and social excellence. With four key messages, our goal is to equip as many children as possible with the skills and opportunities they deserve despite their environment. We work with local schools and after school programs to create safe and healthy surroundings for students to socialize through sports and play with an emphasis on education.

Bidding for game-worn jerseys will begin with a silent auction on the main concourse and become a live auction during the seventh inning.  After the game auction winners will have their jerseys signed during a meet and greet with the players.  In addition, Jason Thompson will also attend the meet and greet to congratulate the winners and sign their jerseys.

We invite all fans to come to Campbell's Field on August 20th to support a great cause. Fans can purchase specially priced $11 tickets for Saturday Night's game using the fundraising code "JTF" and $6 from each ticket purchased will go to support the Jason Thompson Foundation and the L.I.V.E. like JT Campaign.

The Camden Riversharks are members of the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball. Since 2001, the Riversharks have hosted all of their home games at Campbell’s Field, located along the city’s waterfront.   The 2011 season, the club’s 11th, is presented by Wawa. The Riversharks return for a nine game homestand beginning August 19th and includes the Jason Thompson Foundation jersey auction, Go Green Night, and Dog Days of Summer.  The team provides a competitive baseball product, while maintaining an affordable family friendly atmosphere.  For more information or tickets, go to www.riversharks.com
