BOYERTOWN -- Brooklawn, N.J., held on to defeat Blackhawk, Pa., 6-5, in the
second game of the American Legion Mid-Atlantic Regional at Bear Stadium in Boyertown. In the first game, Middletown, Del., defeated Bordentown, N.J., 5-1.
Brooklawn led, 6-4, going into the bottom of the 9th inning. Blackhawk pulled within a run and had the bases loaded with no outs. But Brooklawn got a force out at the plate, and pitcher Casey Brown struck out the final two batters to preserve the win.
Cody Brown was the winning pitcher, hurling 7 innings and allowing just 5 hits and 1 earned run. Casey Brown earned the save with 2 innings of relief.
Brooklawn left fielder Pat Kane was on base in all 5 plate appearances, reaching on 2 hits and 3 walks. He stole 3 bases and scored 2 runs. First baseman John Brue blasted a home run.
