(CNBNEWS.NET)Congratulations to 70-year-old Phyllis Marcucci, (photo #5327) of Westmont NJ who placed first in her age group (70 to 75 years old) in the annual Achilles Foundation Run/Walk held in New York’s Central Park on June 26.
She finished the five mile run in a personal best of 56 minutes and 26 seconds. Phyllis turned 70 the day before the race.
Gary Marcucci, her husband and trainer, said, “Phyllis trained hard for the race and we had expected and hoped that it would be much cooler and less humid than it has been in the past. NOT!! It was a very humid and warm morning in Central Park. There were over 6,000 runners and walkers. This year they were much more strict and Phyllis had to start near the back of the pack which means she had to run almost a quarter mile before she hit the starting line.
“The money that Phyllis raises through your generosity goes directly to the Achilles Foundation and is matched by my company, Residex, LLC and through this avenue we have been able to purchase four hand-crank bicycles for the veterans. One of which was donated at the dinner in the Union League,” said Gary.
