Breaking News: Gloucester City School Superintendent's Contract Will Not Be Renewed

(CNBNEWS.NET) Gloucester City School Superintendent Paul Spaventa, photo, was notified last night at the Board of Education meeting that he will have to look for a new job at the end of the next school year. Spaventa is in the third year of a four year agreement with the district. The vote was 5-3 in
favor of not renewing his contract.
Spaventa assumed control of the City school district on January 1, 2008 replacing Mary Stansky. His starting salary was $145,000. His salary for the 2011-2012 school year would be around $172,000. Prior to coming to Gloucester City he was the superintendent of the Mt. Holly School District. Spaventa is a former superintendent in Clementon, a former vice principal in Gloucester Township and at Gateway Regional and a former teacher in Collingswood.
