Four Thoughts on Memorial Day

VIDEO: Memorial Day, A Time to Remember

We would like to take a moment to pause from all of our political activity to remember this weekend from where our freedoms are derived and secured.  It is through our armed forces.  From our very first Sons of Liberty in the Continental Army to our present day protectors of freedom, nearly 2.5 million soldiers have laid down their lives or suffered wounds so that we might live in freedom

It is the

VETERAN,
not the preacher,
Who has given us freedom of religion.

It is
the VETERAN,
not the reporter,
Who has given us freedom of the press.

It is
the VETERAN,
not the poet,
Who has given us freedom of speech.

It is
the VETERAN,
not the campus organizer,
Who has given us freedom to assemble.

It is
the VETERAN,
not the lawyer,
Who has given us the right to a fair trial.

It is
the VETERAN,
not the politician,
Who has given us the right to vote.

It is the
VETERAN who
salutes the Flag,

So in addition to giving thanks to the Lord this weekend for the bar-b-que and your many blessings, please take a moment to give thanks to the staggering number who have laid down their lives and sacrificed all for us.   For our veterans who have served, and for those now in service to our nation, may God bless you and keep you safe.
