The Gloucester City High School Lions baseball team leaped into the second round of the South Jersey Group 1 Playoffs by beating Leap Academy of Camden 14 – 0.
Gloucester’s Brandon Blackiston capped a 10 run 1st inning with a Grand Slam, while winning Pitcher Austin Darrow (4 -1) shutdown all Leap hitters before leaving the game in the third giving way to Steven Bobo.
Catcher Thomas O’Donnell finished of the Leap Academy with a 2 run homer in the third. The pitching combination of Darrow, Bobo, Kyle Gaff and Kyle Greene limited Leap to one base runner and no hits in the 5 inning shutout. The Lion’s pitchers faced the minimum number of batters (15) in the 5 inning contest.
The Lion’s will host the winner of the #5 Pennsville and #13 Woodbury game Friday 4:00 at Gloucester City High School, Market Street and Route 130.
