Why Am I Running for the Board of Education? Spotlight on Eric Cassidy

GLOUCESTER CITY NJ-Public education is a key ingredient of the American dream, Animated-vote
critical to shaping productive future citizens and to maintaining a dynamic democracy, a strong economy, and a good quality of life. Hi my name is Eric Cassidy and I am running for school board. I'm running for the board because I feel that I have some new ideas. In doing my job, I'm constantly in the schools. I feel that I have new ideas to put our children first. If I'm elected I am going to fight hard for the children and  make the hard choices. I will bring my experience to the table and do my best.

I grew up in Gloucester city and a Gloucester City High School Graduate. I was a 1000th point scorer in basketball. I worked my way through Rowan University; where I earned a degree in Health and Exercise Science and went on to get my masters degree from Drexel University. I currently work at Schalick High School as a teacher and the head boy’s varsity basketball coach.

I believe the school board needs to find ways to get the community involved in their decision.  The school board should look at its overall strategy in the budget process and find ways to bring in the community into the process through the school year, not just in April when it’s time to gear up to pass it.

I will insure that student achievement remains our highest priority by working collaboratively with parents, teachers and staff. I believe in high academic standards and school accountability. I will work hard to ensure that our school district continues to improve test scores and that every dollar benefits our children’s education.

As YOUR School Board member, I will work to make sure that our children receive the academic skills and training necessary to prepare them for today’s competitive job market and to enter college

I am an educator unlike some of my other opponents.  What our school district needs is someone that is an educator and lifelong advocate of teachers, children, families and youth and knows that Gloucester City schools are good, and can be better. Please vote for Eric Cassidy for Gloucester City School Board.

EDITOR'S NOTE: All School Board candidates in the South Jersey area are invited to submit their reasons for running in the April 27 annual school board election.  Include a photo if you have one.
