Philly Fire Leaves Firefighter Critical - Firefighter Spot

April 21, 2011

Firefighter Close Calls is Reporting:

One Philadelphia Firefighter is in critical condition w/burns and 2 other Firefighters Images-11 were hurt following a flashover and mayday in Philly late last night. The fire also left a civilian dead. When PFD Firefighters got to the home (photos on our home page showing the conditions), they had reports of people trapped. Arriving in
3 minutes, they had heavy smoke and fire blowing from the windows of the home. One person was rescued from a second floor window by Firefighters. Fire Commissioner Lloyd Ayers described what happened: "While they were attacking the fire they had a flash over. Several of the firefighters were injured. We actually called a mayday on that to make sure we could get our firefighters out."
As of this writing, one Firefighter was in critical condition at Temple while the other two were reported to be in stable condition. There were no signs of any smoke detectors in the home. Updates to follow.
