Carman N. "Sonny" Sarlo 82, of Ft. Myers, Fl., formerly of Gloucester City & Woodlynne, NJ died on April 20,2011. Sonny leaves a legacy of a good life achieved through hard work.
Sonny grew up in Gloucester City and as a young man joined the family business, Sarlo Florist. He later branched out on his own and opened Woodlynne Floral Gardens in 1959 and continued there until 2004 when he retired from the floral business. Music was also an integral part of Sonny's life which ultimately became the soundtrack of his life story. Sonny played the drums in several bands and orchestras including; Bill Haley & the Comets, Cozy Morley, The Carmen D Orchestra, The Solars and the Bill Muller Orchestra.
Sonny will be fondly remembered for his great sense of humor and quick wit. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Sonny is the beloved husband of the late Lorraine; loving father of Carmen (Kathy), Jr., Michael, Larry (Sue) and Chief Richard (Karla) Sarlo; dear brother of Hazel Palese, Gloria Rositter and the late Louis, Thomas and Charles Sarlo; cherished grandfather of 13.
Relatives and friends are invited to join Sonny's family for his visitation and Farewell Service 9 to 10:45 AM Wednesday in the McGUINNESS FUNERAL HOME, 573 Egg Harbor Road, Washington Twp. where a Funeral Service will follow at 11 AM.
