Monday, March 21, 2011
(Trenton)-- The New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) today announced that Kings Highway (CR 551) in Mount Ephraim Borough will be temporarily closed in order to rehabilitate the Conrail railroad grade crossing.
Kings Highway, between Route 168 (Black Horse Pike) and West Browning Road will be closed on Tuesday, March 22, at 7:00 a.m. until around 5 p.m. Thursday, March 24. Motorists will be detoured to Route 168 (Black Horse Pike) to West Browning Road and return to Kings Highway.
Access to businesses and residences along Kings Highway will be maintained.
In order to provide a safer and smoother railroad crossing on Kings Highway, NJDOT will replace the existing crossing with a new concrete freight rail crossing and repave the asphalt approaches. The cost of the work is $116,000.
This project is part of NJDOT’s ongoing railroad grade-crossing safety program, which repairs, upgrades or removes approximately 30 crossings each year. Real time traffic information is available at www.511nj.org.
