Brother of the Wolf, LLC, located in Gloucester City, hosted a celebration for its newest graduating class of professional dog trainers on Saturday, March 26. This is the third group of graduates to be trained at the school on Market Street.
"We train dogs and humans, here," stated Dawn Watson, owner of the school. "The individuals that go through my program have knowledge, skill, and moral character or they don't make it. I demand that they succeed. They go on to set up successful practices of their own but they can always come back for insight and sharing of ideas."
The graduates from the Apprenticeship Program include a married couple that attended classes, together. Although Kim Taylor was unable to attend, her husband, Kevin, accepted the diploma for her. Two students from the Animal Behavior College where Watson is a Mentor/Trainer also graduated. Desiree Dumm and Ashley Prem were honored at the ceremony for having completed their internships with Watson. In addition, Desiree achieved Honors status and received a special certificate for excellence in professionalism and rescue work.
"The next class includes Diane Murowany, who is already a professional pet sitter and dog walker. I am also happy that Desiree's husband, R.J., has decided to enroll!" R.J. is currently in the Air Force and will be deployed to Afghanistan for his third tour of duty in July.
The ceremony was catered and each graduate received a necklace with replica of a Native American and a small, sterling silver wolf. "I wanted the graduates to remember from whence they came," said Watson. "I shared some of my culture with them and want them to always remember that the dog is the brother of the wolf."
Currently, there are two students undergoing training in the program. The next program will begin in September.
