Mary T. Doherty, 81, GCHS Alumni Class of '46, VFW Post 3620 Ladies Auxiliary Member

On December 13, 2010. Age 81. (nee Hennessey) Of The Vineland Veterans Memorial Home. R2 Formerly of Woodlynne and Gloucester Heights. Loving wife of the late Donald “Doc” Doherty and the late William A. Butler. Loving and caring mother of Cheryl Morrell (Robert), Rick Butler (Denise), Mary Fallon (Matthew) and the late Donna Butler. Dear sister of Jack Hennessey (Joan), Geri Hennessey and Patricia Ambrosius (Gus). Also survived by her 5 grandsons, 2 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

 

Mary was a graduate of Gloucester Catholic class of 1946. She was a proud member of the VFW Post #3620 Ladies Auxiliary of Gloucester City and served as a Block Captain for the Woodlynne Town Watch for many years. Mary loved the beach, was an avid Phillies fan, had a big sweet tooth, enjoyed taking walks and spending time with her great grand daughter.  Mary was a 41 year survivor of breast cancer and enjoyed the many activities at the Vineland Veteran’s Memorial Home.

 

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend her viewing on Thursday evening from 6 to 8 PM at the McCANN-HEALEY FUNERAL HOME: 851 Monmouth Street, Gloucester City. Catholic Funeral Service 8 PM in the funeral home. Cremation and Inurnment are private at Calvary Cemetery, Cherry Hill. Family requests memorial donations in lieu of flowers to: Susan G.
