A volunteer with the McArthur Fire Department was killed after being hit by a water tank cap last night while battling a brush fire, according to The Columbus Dispatch.
Firefighter Ryan Seitz, 26, died when a cap on a pressurized water tank flew off and struck him at approximately 6 p.m., the report said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
McArthur responded with a dozen other agencies to extinguish a brush fire in Liberty Township.
Firefighter Aaron Chesser -- also from McArthur -- was transported to hospital. He was treated and released that night.
Details of how the tank's cap blew off were not available, according to the report.
