Letters: What would be true pension reform
Thursday, September 16, 2010
Maybe I'm missing something here regarding NJ Public Employee pension
reform. But why do I have to pay for anyone's retirement except my own?
Local public employees are no longer underpaid. No local public employee earns low, uncompetitive wages. In many cases, they are even making more than the average New Jersey taxpayer.
Real reform is to stop making us save for our retirement while we contribute for local employees' pensions. Enough. Salaries are now even, competitive, and for some groups of local public employees much more than any New Jersey taxpayer can ever hope to make. Now is the time for all to pay and save for their own retirements. This would be true pension reform.
