Please come out and welcome home Sgt. Donnie Russell from serving a second tour in Welcome Iraq. His family history is that he comes from a long line of soldiers. The bio will be read at the homecoming, but the stories from Donnie’s grandfather lead him to want to join the military as his career of choice.

He joined the Army in April 2005, a little older and wiser than most of his class. He felt that this had meaning and knew he found his place. His first tour in Iraq was in Operation Iraqi Freedom from 2006-2008 with the 1st Calvary Division stationed at Ft. Hood, Tx.  After returning home that December he met his wife Fran. They were married Feb. 2008.

While stationed at Ft. Hood in Sept. 2009 he re-enlisted and was transferred to Ft. Drum, NY to join the 10th Mountain Division. He left for his second tour to Iraq Oct. 2009 right after his daughter Isabella was born. Now he is returning August 2010 just in time for his daughters 1st birthday.

He has become a Sgt. 1e5 in C Co. 2-14 Infantry 10th Mountain Division.

Welcome_home_card-p137093887163556865t5tq_400 He has a family who loves him and they would love to show it. Info provided by Jessica Gillen (his sister).

Please join the Warrior Watch Riders & Friends, Yellow Ribbon Club, and the Shamong Twp. Fire Department in making some noise as we bring this hero home in style.
