While I could not begin to address all of Marilyn Flexons’ negative observations in your August 5
issue, I am duty bound to respond to the erroneous statements regarding Gloucester City’s Flag Ship Schooner North Wind.
The implication that only the “Elite” get to sail on our Schooner is just not true. Our primary mission is to provide education to the youth of our area through a maritime training program.

We have taken scores of our local school children and area Scouts out on the educational river excursions.
Our captain and the entire crew are totally volunteer, so it is challenging to schedule and advertise regular “open” sails for all of our neighbors.
