Gloucester City Mayor and Council Approve 19 Resolutions and Five Ordinances

Gloucester City Mayor and Council passed 19 resolutions and five ordinances (four on first reading and one on second) at Thursday’s (August 19) caucus meeting. Most of the resolutions were mundane dealing more so with individual issues such as refund of a permit fee or correcting billing charges on utility records.
The resolutions that will have an effect on the overall populace included:
- T & M Associates, of Moorestown was awarded a $6750 contract to do a submerged aquatic vegetation survey in the Delaware River in front of Proprietors Park
- Authorizing a person to person transfer of Doc and Joe’s liquor license, 500 Jersey Ave., to Boyers Tavern, same address
- Liquor license renewal of JK Venture, t/a Tavern on the Edge, 332 Jersey Ave.
- Requesting funds from the NJ Transportation Trust Fund to help pay for the reconstruction of Monmouth St.
- Authorizing application for funding NJDOT Centers of Place (Broadway Decorative Street Lighting) Hudson to Mercer Sts.
- Authorizing $2700 payment to TRIAD Associated for the preparation of the Centers of Place Street Lighting grant application
- Awarding the reconstruction of Atlantic Street contract in the amount of $142,711 to the low bidder, Bud Concrete of Sewell
- Awarding the construction contract for the Freedom Pier Walkway in the amount of $387,391 to the low bidder, Bud Concrete of Sewell
Ordinances passed on first reading included (2nd reading and public hearing Sept. 7, at 7PM in City Hall):
- Approval for a stop sign at the intersection of Hudson and Brown Streets, stop sign to be installed on Hudson Street
- Adopting redevelopment plan known as Meadowbrook Mews Townhouse Project (tabled from July 22 meeting)
- Amending city employees salary ordinance specifically part time and seasonal employees. This ordinance sets the hourly rate to range from a low of $7.76 to a maximum of $15
- Amending the Gloucester City Zoning map (2nd reading Sept. 23)
- Passed on final adoption following a public hearing was an ordinance amending Chapter 50 and adding Chapter 48B to the city code. The fee for a recycling can shall be $12 and the fee for a cord of wood is now $80 per
