MAAC Baseball Championship Set to Begin today, Wednesday

Fishkill, NY - The 2010 MAAC Baseball Championship is scheduled to begin today,  May 26, from Dutchess Stadium in Fishkill, N.Y. The entire championship can be seen live on MAACSports.com.

In the first contest, top-seeded Canisius College, who enters the tournament with a 19-5 record in conference play, meets fourth-seeded Manhattan College. Canisius swept the Jaspers in a three game series in Buffalo on May 8-9. The Golden Griffins won two slugfests, 23-30 and 10-8, before shutting out Manhattan, 4-0, to complete the sweep. First pitch is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.

The second first round game features host Marist College, the championship's second seed, and third-seeded Rider University. Marist, the defending MAAC Champions, dropped two of three to the Broncs three weeks ago in Lawrenceville. Rider had a dramatic, 7-6, walk-off win against the Red Foxes and then carried the momentum into game two of the doubleheader, winning 22-4. Marist rebounded to take the third game, 11-8. First pitch is set for 7:00 p.m.
