American Heroes: Cpl. Jeffery W. Johnson, 21, of Tomball, Texas, Sgt. Kenneth B. May, Jr., 26, of Kilgore, Texas
Mojave cross torn down by vandals

I returned to my home town in 1996, after 39 years of living and working in a half dozen LettersToTheEditor1 cities. I was elated to rediscover our unique home town library.

I have utilized numerous libraries, a few of which were County-operated. No library provides more personalized services, or better computers and books than our Library, bar none.

While I am acutely aware of the need to balance our town budget, there are some aspects of life that can’t be measured in dollars. Our City needs a responsive, sensitive library, just as much as we need Ball Fields.

Reduce service hours, close on Wednesday, assign our Police to insure night time security, charge me $50 annually, but please, please do not cede our Gloucester City Library to the County political machine.
