Dear Friends and Neighbors,

I am writing this letter to our friends and neighbors in Gloucester City. The Gloucester City Tree & Beautification Committee will be constructing their first public community garden in the city. The start date for preparation of the grounds, located at the northwest corner of Market and Atlantic Streets, is scheduled for Saturday, May 15, 2010 at 10:00am.

The committee is in need of both volunteers for the project and monetary donations which will help to cover the cost of the, materials for the garden. If you are interested in helping, or for further information, please contact Michele Glassman at 856-456-5862 or John P. Schmidt at jschmidt.gctbc@gmail.com. The committee is always looking for new members. Our monthly meetings are held on the second Thursday of the month at 6:30 p.m. at 313 Monmouth Street. Donations make payable to The Gloucester City Tree & Beautification Committee c/o Dot Evans, Treasurer, 512 Monmouth Street Gloucester City, NJ 08030.

In addition prior to the start of preparation of the garden the Gloucester City Tree & Beautification Committee will hold a short Arbor Day celebration. This year for the second year in a row Gloucester City was named a Tree City USA by the Arbor Day Foundation. Please come out and support this great cause of improving of tree canopy and urban environment.

Sincerely,

John P. Schmidt, Chairman
