On February 13, 2010. Age 81. Lifelong resident of Brooklawn. Loving and devoted husband of 60 years to Eleanor V. (nee Moen). Loving father of John D., III (Bonni), Ginny (John) Scout, Francis (Michelle), Michael (Karla) and Steven (Kathy). Loving grandfather of John, IV (Lisa), Jennifer, Megan, Shawn, Robert (Erin), Matthew, Christopher, Kamryn and Kate. Loving great-grandfather of Aiden.

John graduated from Gloucester High class of 1947. He proudly served our country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He worked 40 years with PRR / Conrail prior to his retirement in 1989. John was a Life member of Brooklawn Fire Company since May of 1949 and NJ State Firemen’s Relief Association. He was very involved in his hometown as a member of Brooklawn Council, Planning and Zoning Board, and a coach of Brooklawn Little League and Babe Ruth.

Relatives, friends and fellow Firemen are kindly invited to attend his viewing on Thursday evening from 6 to 9 pm and again Friday morning from 10 to 11 am at the Brooklawn United Methodist Church: 213 Maude Ave (at Hannevig), Brooklawn, NJ 08030. Methodist Service will begin at 11 am in the church. At the request of the family, Cremation will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations in John’s memory to Brooklawn Fire Company: Horton and S. Wilson Aves, Brooklawn, NJ 08030 or Brooklawn United Methodist Church: at the above church address or a charity of your choice. Please write in the memo: John D. McKinney, Jr.
