WHERE HAS THE MAIN STREAM MEDIA GONE?

As a concerned Camden County resident, I ask myself why certain stories are not reported. This country was built on investigating reporting, letting the people know what should concern them in their towns, and what is going to affect them short and long term. I myself am not a reporter, just a citizen that is getting frustrated with the hiding of information and politics.
My first concern is the town of Mt. Ephraim, we have such a small and limited police force as it is that when one of our police officers leaves to take another position we do not immediately replace this officer. Instead we take the salary for this officer and bank it, and give the excuse that we are waiting to see what the new Governor will do once he takes office. Meanwhile we have now put the town and other officers at risk, while the borough makes interest money on the officers pay that they have not replaced.
Mt. Ephraim police are one of the most important town employees that we have, it is bad enough
that the police station is from the 1950's and is a three room dungeon in the basement of the town hall. Oh yes, let’s not spend money on the full time employees that help and take care of the citizens of the town, but instead we spend $3 million dollars on a volunteer fire house so that the men, women and kids of the town can go to a place to hang out at all hours of the night, watch TV, sell hoagies and sit in chairs in front of the building. A fire house is simply a garage, a place to house trucks and equipment, not a place to hang out and have parties, in a sense it is a place of business for the town, I myself have not investigated the prices of garages lately but I feel that $3 million is a hell of a price tag for this endeavor for the people of Mt. Ephraim to endure, they may not know it yet but somewhere down the line they will be picking up this fee.
My second concern would be the Freeholders of Camden County. From what I understand we are looking to sell the Riverfront State Prison which is a new and upgraded facility in Camden because of the river front property, so now we will have to furnish a new facility somewhere else.
We as Camden County residents have to watch our Correction Officers be laid off, and now put a new jail in our back yard. Now with privatizing this institution we have now taken out the professional officers who are paid and trained well to protect us from the people we put in there, to non trained, under paid people who will probably not take this job as serious.
Why wouldn’t we first move the county jail to the state jail to save building costs, and keep this with the well trained people we have put there? There is a reason why we train these officers for their job. This move will also affect the Sheriff’s department, with privatization, the Sheriff’s office will not be transporting prisoners to the jails, the local police will, so now instead of having that officer on the streets, he will be transporting his criminal to the jail.
How come the main stream media hasn’t investigated this waste of taxpayers’ money? We as citizens have no say in this, this is a freeholder’s vote, well guess what, I am not happy with this and it seems that this is not reported and a lot of people are unaware of this action going on.
I personally am tired of being railroaded, it’s time that the people start to get our say back and stop sitting on are asses and allow the government to tell us what they feel is best for us. The government says they are saving me money, well guess what with this you are putting me in jeopardy, I would rather be safe for my family and I than save a few dollars and have the people we work so hard to take off the streets then have the people we take off run the facilities.
Professionals are paid to be professional, let’s not take that away from them to save a dollar. I mean for real, who comes up with these ideas? Let’s start fixing the problems with politicians first. It seems once they are elected they forget where they come from and lose their brain. We as a society really need to start getting are act together or we are just going to watch this whole thing that we all worked so hard for (our country) get flushed down the tubes.
