Who Gains Most from Bubbles and Bailouts?

| Personal Liberty Digest January 4, 2010 by Bob Livingston Well, yes, the money does come out of the taxpayer’s pocket but in a way that most people don’t recognize. Bubbles and bailouts are not paid for with gold and silver. They are paid for with printing press money, which dilutes your savings and retirement funds. So who are the heroes of bubbles and bailouts? The short answer is, the money creators. They are presiding over and benefiting from the greatest transfer of wealth in history, with the almost certain guarantee that they will never be found out, because they... Read more →

Someone has to know something. Why don’t they come forward? Being a mother of five children, I cannot imagine the pain his mother and family are feeling not knowing. With Christmas so close, I know it had to hurt even more. So if you know anything, please break your silence. Give Bobby’s mom and family the best Christmas they could have. Call the police or... DISMAYED THAT CITY CLERK PAUL KAIN WAS FIRED!

No position could be more local; yet, announcement of it is front-page news, and its resolution is taking place at the highest levels of state government - through the Office of Local Government Services, in the cabinet-level Department of Community Affairs. We are informed by the City that Mr. Kain has been unable to work for nearly six months, but from Mr. Kain we have heard nothing. At the same time, there is no shortage of comments from those who feel the Clerk... Read more →

Good News for Gloucester City

Commentary By Bob Bevan In these hard economical times, our city must do more with less. State aid will no longer be at the level that it has been in the past. Small businesses throughout the country are closing and people are losing their jobs. Our UEZ-Economical Development Department has been working hard to stem the tide. As some of our businesses have been closing, the UEZ has been recruiting new businesses to replace them. The new T.D. Bank on Broadway and Cumberland has added to our tax ratables and provided additional jobs. We will soon have a new company... Read more →

Gloucester City News Year in Review Part 1

By Albert Countryman Jr. As for the first decade of the new millennium, wars and the economy were the big stories. The April of 2000 the dot.com bubble burst, and in the fall of 2008 the entire global economy nearly collapsed. On September 11, 2001, terrorists killed Americans, and since then our soldiers have been fighting in Afghanistan and Iraq. As for 2009, government officials declared the Great Recession over. Try telling that to the 10 percent of the people currently unemployed. Small businesses are struggling to survive, and families have cut their spending. Still, 2010 brings a clean slate,... South Philly Review Year in Review

By Ian Romano Residents not only proved they could survive in 2009, they thrived. No matter what came their way, South Philadelphians rolled with the punches, from fighting for City services, including libraries, engine companies, pools and parades, that were being eyed for cutbacks and closures to saying goodbye to people and places that were woven into the fabric of the community. The Big Economic Meltdown of 2008 bled into 2009, but each and every turn was handled with a single-minded approach: We will make it through this and we will make it better. Even the loss of the World... Read more →

LETTERS: A GOOD START TO THE NEW YEAR

Those of us that understand how conservation is Mother Nature's prescription for healthy ecosystems, and how fishing and hunting are humankind's participation in this remedy, will appreciate the below editorial published by the Herald News. It appears that even the "press" is beginning to understand that Mother Nature does not attempt to "preserve" living things and that humankind remains a link in the environmental chain of dependence, in spite of technological advancements. Although we have a ways to go in educating our modern day culture about the workings of conservation this article is a good effort and a wonderful start... Read more →

Pet Tip of the Week: Stopping a Dog Fight

By Dawn Watson (A Change of Topics)...Due to the recent number of minor (but still troubling) dog-on-dog skirmishes in and around our area I will be addressing that topic this week. If you are walking your dog and following all the city’s requirements about leashing and cleaning up after him you know you are a responsible dog owner, right? But what if you encounter dogs without their owners, dogs that are left outside to aggress at anything that passes by? Or, even worse, what if one of those dogs jumps the fence and begins fighting with your dog? Here are... Read more →

Likewise, the phrase 'In God We Trust' on our currency has been targeted and continues to be attacked as improper and politically incorrect.
