The entire Recreation Centre complex on Creek Road, including portions of the Scott Merulla Playground, was bedecked with larger arrays of lighting and decorations than last year.
Mayor Frank Filipek Sr. said borough residents donated more to this year’s efforts than he expected.
The free of charge event drew hundreds of Bellmawr and other residents, who braved the chilling breeze and were warmed by hot chocolate and cookies.
The Petting Zoo was brought back from 2008, along with pony rides, which featured an eight year-old miniature named “Popsicle.”
New this year was the Community Room being transformed into a maze of animated Santa figurines of all shapes and sizes.
The event was free of charge. Photos with Santa were available for a small fee as well as free, customized Christmas stockings.
Representatives from the Bellmawr branches of The Bank and TD Bank were also on hand with handouts.
As the opening evening continued, a tour of the layout was in order, and it was evident that the Borough employees worked extremely hard to have everything together and ready for event-goers.
