As a first step in developing a rebirth of community participation in Gloucester City School District planning, the Gloucester City Board of Education will sponsor “Speak Up, Gloucester City” on October 22. The event will be held at the Gloucester City High School Media Center at 7 p.m.
The program, moderated by Board President Louisa W. Llewellyn, will feature four 10 minute presentations, with questions and answers to follow. Presentations include plans for the new middle, presented by Facility Director John Kenney, changes in curriculum and credits needed for graduation, presented by Director of Curriculum and Instruction Elizabeth Curry, briefing on the state’s program to consolidate school districts, presented by Superintendent Paul Spaventa and review of revised and new board policies, presented by Vice President and Chairperson of the Policy Committee Kathy McHugh.
“Speak Up, Gloucester City” is part of the BOE’s goal for the year, which is to improve community participation in District planning. Those in attendance will be asked to complete a short evaluation and survey.
