FORMER ATHLETES SELECTED FOR SPORTS HALL OF FAME

GLASSBORO, NJ – Six former athletes have been selected for the 2009 Rowan University-Glassboro State Sports Hall of Fame. This year’s induction will be held on Sunday, October 25 during the school’s Homecoming weekend. 

The 2009 inductees are: Stephanie Allocco (soccer, softball, basketball and lacrosse), 2001; Michelle Andre (field hockey, softball, lacrosse), 1999; Ed Colleton (track and field), 2000; Rich Dixon (soccer and track), 2001; Greg Lister (football), 1999; and Michael Oehlmann (soccer), 1997. The honorees were chosen from more than 100 nominations of outstanding athletes and coaches. The University’s Sports Hall of Fame has a total of 133 members.

The ceremony and brunch reception will be held at 1 p.m. in the University’s Eynon Ballroom of the Chamberlain Student Center. The cost is $30 per person and reservations can be made by contacting the Alumni Relations Office at 856-256-5400.

URSINUS DEALS TCNJ FIELD HOCKEY TEAM FIRST LOSS OF THE SEASON

Collegeville, PA... Ursinus College made the first road game of the season for The College of New Jersey field hockey team a rough one as the Bears dealt the Lions an 9-1 loss Tuesday in Collegeville, PA.
The loss knocked the fourth-ranked Lions to 4-1 on the season, while fifth-ranked Ursinus improved to 4-2.
The hosts gained control early scoring five times in the opening half and added four more in the second frame.
Lion freshman Camille Passucci (Denville, NJ/Morris Knolls) picked up her first collegiate goal in the game scoring in the second half.
Sophomore Shannon Syciarz (Garwood, NJ/Arthur L. Johnson) finished with 10 saves for TCNJ, while Sammi Brach (Belle Mead, NJ/Montgomery) added four.
The Lions open New Jersey Athletic Conference play on Friday, September 25 heading to William Paterson University to take on the Pioneers in a 7 p.m. start.
