Police and K-9 Unit Investigate Break-In at Gloucester Catholic HS

8/22/09: Officers responded to Gloucester Catholic High
School for a report of (2) suspects trying to gain entry into the
school. Upon arrival, a witness directed officers to a window on the
Ridgeway St. side of the building between the school and the old
Convent.
The witness observed a suspect climb through the window and then moments later open the Ridgeway St. door and let the other suspect into the building.

After a representative from the school arrived with
a key, a K-9 search of the building was conducted, turning up no
suspects.
Officers reviewed the surveillance tape and observed (2) males enter the building and then quickly exit the building via the Sussex St. door. Investigation is ongoing pending identification of the males.

- 8/19/09: At 6:18 a.m. a female staying at the Budget Inn reported while staying at the hotel with three friends overnight, $600.00 was stolen from her purse. A suspect has been identified and the investigation is ongoing.
- 8/19/09: At 6:36 a.m. an officer responded to a residence in the 900 block of Market St. for a juvenile complaint. Upon arrival, the father told the officer that he called the police because his (2) children were running around the house making noise while he was trying to sleep and they wouldn't stop. The officer spoke with the children and provided some advice to the father on how to control them.
- 8/19/09: At 12:03 p.m. Renee Hettich, 37, a resident of the 300 block of Cumberland St. was arrested on Broadway at Mercer St. for Contempt. She was later released on bail.
- 8/19/09: At 5:25 p.m. officers responded to the area of the 100 block of Rosalind Ave. for a report of (3) black males looking into parked cars and acting suspicious. A check of the area located the males in the rear yard of a residence in the 300 block of Klemm Ave.
(3) juvenile males from Camden were arrested and charged with Defiant Trespass. They were later released to their guardians.
- 8/19/09: At 7:19 p.m. a resident of Ashwood Ave. reports sometime during the morning on 8/17/09 unknown person(s) stole the propane tank off her barbecue grill.
- 8/20/09: On 8/18/09 at 1:43 p.m. officers along with the G.C.F.D. responded to the Chatham Square Apartments for a report of a propane leak next to one of the apartment buildings. The report was found to be false. Further investigation determined the report was made by Anthony Parisi, 41, a former resident of the apartment complex. He was charged with False Public Alarms.
- 8/20/09: At 10:02 p.m. plain clothes officers stopped a man at Broadway at Essex St. for a traffic violation. As a result, Daniel Hogan, 19, a resident of the 300 block of Warren St. was charged with Poss. Marijuana and Poss. of Marijuana with the Intent to Distribute.
- 8/21/09: At 5:14 a.m. officers were dispatched to the area of Maple Ave. for a report of a man looking into parked cars. A description of the man was provided and the suspect was located on Kings Highway at the Little Timber Creek bridge. He was found to be in possession of a quantity of coins and a GPS unit. The Utilizing the "home" feature on the GPS unit, officers were able to trace it back to a residence in the 400 block of Walnut Ave. The resident did positively identify his property and it was returned to him. Robert McNally, 26, a resident of the 500 block of S. Broadway was arrested and charged with Receiving Stolen Property.
- 8/21/09: At 11:13 a.m. an officer responded to a residence on the 600 block of Hunter St. for an animal complaint. Upon arrival a resident reported her (10) week old Chihuahua was killed by her neighbor's dog, a black lab. The neighbor's dog was chained up; however the Chihuahua climbed through a hole in the fence.
- 8/21/09: A resident reported her son's bicycle was stolen from Broadway at Middlesex St. between 6:00 p.m. and 11:55 p.m.
- 8/21/09: A resident of the 500 block of Market St. reports sometime overnight unknown person(s) broke the door lock on his work van in an attempt to gain entry. Nothing was reported missing from the van.
- 8/21/09: At 5:09 p.m. an off-duty city police officer arrested Rafael Hernandez, 37, a resident of Oxford Ave. in the University Avenue Park for Lewdness.
- 8/21/09: At 8:21 p.m. an officer stopped a vehicle on Monmouth St. at King St. after observing the vehicle traveling the wrong way on Monmouth St at a high rate of speed. As a result, Tina Sylvestro, 49, a resident of Mt. Laurel, was arrested and charged with D.U.I. At Police Headquarters, Ms. Sylvestro was found to have a blood alcohol concentration of .30%.
- 8/22/09: At 12:04 a.m. an officer on patrol observed a man standing on the corner on Broadway at Morris St. drinking a can of beer. Patrick Merrill, 50, a resident of the 800 block of Mercer St. was charged with Drinking in Public.
- 8/22/09: At 6:00 a.m. a resident of Philadelphia reported her car was stolen from Beechwood Ave. sometime between 2:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m.
- 8/22/09: A resident of the 100 block of N. Broadway reports his bike was stolen from the rear of his apartment. The bike was locked to the railing and the lock was broken.
- 8/22/09: A resident of the 300 block of Mercer St. reports sometime during the past (2) weeks between $3,000 and $4,000 was stolen from a bedroom in the house. The resident identified (3) possible suspects and the investigation is ongoing.
- 8/22/09: A resident of the 600 block of Hunter St. reports her father's weed whacker was stolen from her rear yard sometime on 8/21/09.
- 8/22/09: At 11:05 p.m. officers responded to Burlington St. at Morris St. for a reported fight in progress. There was no fight in progress; however, a man running from the area carrying a 30 pack of beer was stopped. Vincent Palmer, 20, a resident of Camden was arrested for Contempt and Possession of Alcohol Underage.
- 8/23/09: At 2:08 a.m. officers responded to the Highland Tavern for a report of a donnybrook involving (30) people. Upon arrival there was no fight in progress. Several people were treated for minor injuries by G.C.F.D. personnel and a window at the tavern was broken. Those injured in the melee were uncooperative in regards to identifying their attackers. One female did identify a male who assaulted her and another male was identified as breaking the window. Charges are pending against those two males pending the further investigation.
In addition, The Patrol Division conducted (6) motor vehicle crash investigations, (5) domestic violence investigations and (2) missing person investigations.
THOSE CHARGED ARE PRESUMED INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY IN A COURT OF LAW.
