Alice Costello School 2009 Commencement

BROOKLAWN NJ-The Commencement exercise for the Alice Costello School Class of 2009 was held on Wednesday evening, June 10, 2009 at the Alice Costello School. Graduation diplomas were presented to students. This year the students chose the theme “Gonna Make A Change” for the commencement exercises.

Highlighting the evening was the presentation of awards to outstanding graduates.

The Post #72 American Legion Scholarship Awards were presented to CAMERON LABBREE and LAURYN MUNN. LAURYN and CAMERON also received the PTA Outstanding Scholarship Awards. The PTA Anna Pantella Most Improved Student award was presented to STEVIE GALL AGHER . MORGAN QUATTROCHI received the St. Maurice Parish GIFTED GIVER Award, SYDNEY THOJMSON received the Elizabeth Voll award. The Matthew Kuhn Science award was presented to THOMAS O’DONNELL, SYDNEY THOMSON was the recipient of the George Gallimore Award and THOMAS O’DONNELL received the Carmen Palmiero Award. The Brooklawn Education Association Courtesy Award was presented to STEFANO OKORO . The Brooklawn 60+ Club award was presented to HEATHER HARDYMON. CAMERON LABBREE received awards for highest academic averages in English, Social Studies, Math, Science and Reading. The Dan Stelluto award was presented to TIERRA RIGHTER. The Maryann Grant award was presented to BRIANNA MURPHY. The Brooklawn Emergency Management services award was presented to STEPHEN BOBO.

The following students received diplomas at the commencement exercise:

Okoro, Joseph Mitchell Pete, John Daniel Perdikouris, Morgan Jane Quattrochi, Tierra Adelaide Righter, Jared Merrill Russ, Justin Kasheem Smith, Sydney Carol Thomson, Justin Scott Trader, Kathleen Velez, Patrick Joseph Wentzell, Tiana Ruth Wilcox, Rocco Michael Zizzamia.

The commencement exercise began with the traditional processional “Pomp and Circumstance”. The Invocation was delivered by Father Link of St. Maurice Church.

The flag salute was then lead by Brianna Murphy. A speech of welcome was delivered by Sydney Thomson. Under the direction of Mr. Robert Lee, the class performed the song “The World’s Greatest”. The Theme “Gonna Make A Change” was delivered by Lauryn Munn. A special presentation was made by Tierra Righter.

Remarks to the class of 2009 were made by Board of Education member Mr. Robert Wentzell. Conferring of Diplomas was done by Mr. James Cordery and Mr. Robert Wentzell..

clip_image004A presentation video of the class of 2008 - from their infancy thru 8th grade dinner dance was viewed and enjoyed by all. A poem was read by Lauren Klipp The Benediction was then delivered by Pastor Dan Amey of the Brooklawn Methodist Church. Our farewell speech was given by Thomas O’Donnell. A presentation of flowers by the graduates to their parents/guardians then took place.

Ushers & Usherettes were Amanda Boulden, Chris Walmsley, Jason Zold, Samantha Michael, Elizabeth Kontos and Taylor Blackiston.

Special thanks to Mr. Jim Cordery & Mrs. Kathy Golden, Mr. Ryan Kincaid, Mr. Shawn Gogolin, Mrs. Ellen Boulden, Ms. Pat Graff, Mr. Robert Lee and the 8th Grade Room Parents.
