Cancer Drive Raises $1400
Wednesday, June 17, 2009
May 29 was the 8th annual fundraising Ovarian Cancer trip to Camden Riversharks Game. We raised more than $1,400 to help find a cure for the difficult cancer. We sold out the 255 seats we had reserved for this game. It totally amazes us how this event has grown. We believe people know how important it what we are we doing is.
There were so many people who helped make this event the success, it was. We would like to give them credit. First, thanks to the Gloucester City News for running our ad and donating a year subscription to the News as a door prize. Also, thanks to R.J. of Holcomb Bus Company for the generosity. Many thanks to Fran at Browns for helping us with the pizzas, and also to Delores Nordt for her generosity. Thanks to Yashvent Sheyhot at the Brooklawn Days Inn for the generous donation.
Also the event would not be as large if not for certain people who go out and get family and friends to join us. Tonya Sanderson, who lost her mom to ovarian cancer, got together a group of 69 people. That took a great effort, and her three children got to throw out the first pitch of the game. Tonya, we are sure your Mom is very proud of you and something to do with the rainbow that appeared at the game. Also, Joan Everett, who lost her sister to ovarian cancer, deserves a round of applause. Joan got together 50 for the game. Special thanks to the 42 members of the VFW, with the help of Bill Brandt, John Clifford and John Howarth, who joined us. The post also presented the colors prior to the game. Good job guys. Also, thanks to Gene Rovere from the Gloucester City seniors, who showed up with 22 people.
Thanks to the Herr’s Food Co., Walt Heims of Pure Food, Gloucester WaWa, thank you Rose, Sandy Wizou for his printing work. An amazing job was done. Finally, I heard since 1990 cancer deaths have declined by 20 percent. So all who helped can be proud knowing what you are doing and also a big part in the declining. Thanks and hope we will see all of you next year.
