Bill to limit N.J. gun purchases gets legislative approval
Saturday, June 27, 2009
The bill's appearance on the Senate's lengthy agenda surprised its chief opponent, the New Jersey Association of Rifle and Pistol Clubs, which urged its members on its website Wednesday to contact their representatives to vote it down. The Senate scheduled the vote "under the direction of Governor Jon Corzine and with little notice to the public to ensure that New Jersey sportsmen and gun owners were not prepared to defend their Second Amendment rights from gun rationing schemes,'' according to the association's website.
