Gloucester City High's Chain shuts down Braves

In a battle between two of Gloucester County's top teams, Taylor Chain and the Gloucester City High School softball team got the better of Williamstown with a 4-0 Tri-County Conference inter-division victory. Gloucester entered the game ranked No. 1 in the Times-area Top 5; Williamstown is No. 2. Chain hurled a complete-game shutout with nine strikeouts, while going 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs at the plate. Jill Stafford also had two hits and an RBI for the Lions.

WOODBURY HTS. The Gateway Regional High School baseball team bit Gloucester, 9-1, Friday afternoon, tallying up 14 hits and earning a berth in a South Jersey Group I semifinal. Dom DePasquale turned in a stellar performance both on the mound and at the plate for the second-seeded Gators, going the distance and striking out five while allowing just one run on five hits, then going 2-for-3 with an RBI double.
