On May 24, 2009. Age 85. Of Haddon Heights. Formerly of Marlton and Haledon. Loving and devoted husband of 63 years to Gertrude E. (nee Thomas). Beloved father of Robert J. (Mary) Diesner, III of Haddon Heights and John T. (Angela) Diesner of Lincoln Park, NJ. Loving grandfather of Maureen (Shawn), Michael (Alyssa), Daniel and Jacki Lynn. Loving great-grandfather of Jack, Joe, Harry and Nate.
Robert was born in Paterson, NJ where he graduated from Central High School. He proudly served our country in the U.S. Navy during WWII. In his later years he enjoyed traveling, with his wife, to each USS Sperry reunion. He worked 38 years for NY Bell Telephone Company in New York City and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend his visitation on Thursday evening from 6 to 8 pm at the Healey Funeral Home: 9 White Horse Pike, (at Kings Highway) Haddon Heights. Memorial Service will begin at 8 pm in the funeral home. At the request of the family, cremation and inurnment with military honors will take place privately at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Cemetery, Arneytown, NJ. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Robert's memory to Samaritan Hospice: 5 Eves Drive, Suite 300, Marlton, NJ 08053 or Fox Chase Cancer Center: 333 Cottman Ave. Philadelphia, PA 19111.
