St. Mary School: A school rooted in faith and tradition
Sunday, March 29, 2009
GLOUCESTER CITY NJ-For the past 150 years, St. Mary’s School in Gloucester City has served the town’s residents, who, in turn, have sent their children and their children’s children to the school. Today, with 236 children from preschool to eighth grade, and 30 teachers, aides, and school staff, St. Mary’s is keeping the tradition alive.
“It’s a wonderful thing to be a part of,” remarked Joseph Rafferty, a 1975 graduate of St. Mary’s whose sons Joseph, Michael and Patrick have all followed in their dad’s footsteps. Currently, he is the superintendent of schools for the Mount Ephraim school district.
