Gloucester City:Frank Anello Will Discuss String Bands

Frank Anello, owner of The Gentleman’s Den Hair Salon in Gloucester City, will speak about performing in string bands with the Mummers during the February 11th meeting of the Gloucester City Historical Society at 7 p.m. in the Gloucester City Library, Railroad Avenue.

Mr. Anello will discuss his lifelong involvement with the Garden State, Durning and Fralinger string bands.

He has not missed performing in a Mummer’s Day Parade in Philadelphia for the past 51 years, and will highlight his family’s involvement with the Mummers organization and the joy of playing the spirited music enjoyed by many.

Past, present and future Mummers, as well as residents, are invited. Refreshments will be served.

For information, call the Gloucester City Historical Society Museum at 456-3487. The museum, at 34 N. King St., is open from 5-8:30 p.m. on Thursday nights and from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays.
