Turkey Permit Lottery Application Period Opens Sunday

The NJ DEP Division of Fish and Wildlife opens the turkey permit application period for the spring turkey hunting season on Sunday, January 25.  Applications cturkey-usfws160an be submitted at any license agent ( http://www.njfishandwildlife.com/agentlst.htm ) or online ( http://www.wildlifelicense.com/nj/ ).

Information about the season, including Turkey Hunting Area and Period dates and quotas, is in the 2009 Wild Turkey Hunting Season Information Booklet.  The booklet is available online in PDF format only at this time; the print version has been delayed and will not be available until after the permit application period begins.

The application period closes February 22; awarded permits can be claimed beginning March 9.  New this year is the requirement that awarded permits be claimed by March 29 - any unclaimed permits will be made available over-the-counter.
