WAWA ENLARGING PARKING LOT
Tuesday, December 23, 2008
GLOUCESTER CITY-The two vacant buildings in the 1300 unit block of Market Street next to the WaWa store are being demolished. The Wawa company owns the buildings and will be making the store's parking lot larger once the work is completed.
In 2006 Wawa representatives appeared before the City Planning Board asking for permission to enlarge the local store. The application for the expansion was granted but the plans apparently were put on hold. The larger parking lot will be a welcome addition for customers as it is sometime difficult to find a place to park.
As for the demolition, one of the vacant buildings was the long time home of Gloucester Hardware owned by The Clements family. While the other building was used for a variety of different businesses. Some of which included Revelli's Grocery Store, Heisers Deli/Luncheonette, Adams Printing, and a video store to mention a few.
