Shayla Llanos, Salem High School graduate and basketball star, died Monday

- NJ.com. Llanos, last year's Player of the Year for basketball, graduated from Salem in June. While playing for Broward Community College, located in Florida, Llanos collapsed to her knees at a tournament game held that afternoon. Breaking News: Gloucester City Has Hired a New Administrator

Gloucester City Mayor and Council passed a resolution last night naming Jack Lipsett as the new administrator for the City. Lipsett will receive an annual salary of $95,000. He is presently the administrator of Washington Township in Gloucester County. Lipsett will begin his job with the City on January 5, 2009. He replaces Paul Kain, who was being paid the same salary for that position along with holding down the job of municipal clerk. Planning Board Gives Okay to New Townhouses at former CG Base

By Linda Boker-Angelo NEWS Correspondent The Gloucester City Planning Board last week approved plans for 29 new townhomes to be built on “Freedom Pier,” the former Coast Guard pier which juts out into the Delaware River at King and Cumberland Streets. The primary concern both the Board’s engineer and the City planner had was the issue of parking. Coalition Ships Seize 20 Tons of Drugs

American Forces Press Service MANAMA, Bahrain, Dec. 29, 2008 – Coalition warships operating in the North Arabian Sea and Gulf of Aden as part of Combined Task Force 150 have seized more than 20 tons of narcotics since October, with an estimated value of more than $100 million, officials said. Chuckles: Doughboy Succumbs from pokes in the belly

Please join me in remembering a great icon of the entertainment community. The Pillsbury Doughboy died yesterday of a yeast infection and trauma complications from repeated pokes in the belly. He was 71. Doughboy was buried in a lightly greased coffin. Dozens of celebrities turned out to pay their respects, including Mrs. Butterworth, Hungry Jack, the California Raisins, Betty Crocker, the Hostess Twinkies, and Captain Crunch. Athletic site in Mantua to open in '09

Total Turf Experience's development, expected to open early next year, will host adult and youth soccer, baseball, lacrosse and field hockey leagues, drawing players from South Jersey and Philadelphia, according to co-owner Jerry McGough. Gloucester City Not Very Friendly to Rental Property Owners

Is Gloucester City Housing {GCH} picking on all businesses in the city or are they just targeting rental property owners? As a property owner on Market Street it never ceases to amaze me the tricks GCH keeps pulling out of their little bag of tricks. First they raise registration from $50 to $150. per unit. WAWA ENLARGING PARKING LOT

GLOUCESTER CITY-The two vacant buildings in the 1300 unit block of Market Street next to the WaWa store are being demolished. The Wawa company owns the buildings and will be making the store's parking lot larger once the work is completed. In 2006 Wawa representatives appeared before the City Planning Board asking for permission to enlarge the local store. The application for the expansion was granted but the plans apparently were put on hold. Daily Attacks in Iraq Drop Nearly 95 Percent
