TRENTON - Luis Silva, 54, the New Jersey Corrections Ombudsman, died on Tuesday afternoon after a short illness, New Jersey Public Advocate Ronald K. Chen announced today.
Silva, a Mantua Township resident, served as the Corrections Ombudsman since 2001, first as part of the Department of Corrections and then as part of the Department of the Public Advocate when it was restored in 2006. He served as Assistant Ombudsman for nine years prior to his appointment as Ombudsman.
