Chester, PA – The Lions of the eighth-ranked Lions of The College of New Jersey posted a 14-5 win over Widener University on Wednesday as the senior right fielder Matt Barrett (Pennington, NJ/Hopewell Valley), drove in five runs and added a pair of homeruns in the contest. TCNJ improves to 27-6, while Widener drops to 22-11.

 Barrett added  a 3-4 effort at the plate with three runs scored and now shares the homerun lead on the year as he has six thus far. A pitcher last year for the Lions, Barrett has now homered in his last two games and has 21 RBIs on the year.

 Senior Dave Mebs (Cinnaminson, NJ/Cinnaminson) drove in two runs and was 2-5 with a double and a triple for the Lions as they combined to collect 21 hits on the day. Junior Vince Mazzaccaro (Gloucester, NJ/Gloucester Catholic) was 3-4 with two RBI’s as well.  For the Lions, senior first baseman Rich Gawlak (Plainsboro, NJ/West Windsor-Plainsboro-South) was 3-4 with a pair of RBIs, while junior short stop Jeff Toth (Parlin, NJ/Sayerville) was 2-4 at the plate with an RBI and his ninth double of the year.

 
On the mound, junior Dan Ramos-Dominko (Hampton, NJ/North Hunterdon) earned the win after seven innings of work, yielding just two runs off six hits and fanning seven batters. Ramos-Dominko improves to 3-2 and now has 42 strikeouts on the season, which is second highest on the team this spring.
