TCNJ SOFTBALL TEAM TAKES TWO AT MUHLENBERG COLLEGE

Allentown, PA… The College of New Jersey softball team collected a doubleheader sweep at Muhlenberg College on Wednesday winning the opening game 2-1 in eight innings and then claimed the nightcap 12-1 in five innings.
The pair of wins put the Lions at 10-6 on the season, while the Mules fell to 3-11.
TCNJ will be right back on the field on Thursday heading to Moravian College for another non-conference doubleheader.

Sophomore pitcher
Ashley Minervini (Cliffside Park, NJ/Cliffside) picked up her sixth win of the
season tossing a complete game allowing only an unearned run on four hits with
five strikeouts.
The Lions plated a pair of unearned runs in the game with sophomore Ellen Seavers (Ridgewood, NJ/Ridgewood) crossing the plate in the top of the first and freshman Kathy Sikora (Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) in the top of the eighth with the winning run.

The Lions once again allowed only one run, but this time received
plenty of offensive support thanks mostly to a nine-run third
inning.
Senior Christina Lizzi (Wyckoff, NJ/Ramapo) had the big hit in the inning bringing home three runs with a base-clearing double. Sikora also provided a spark plating a pair of runs with a base hit.
Lizzi finished the game going 3-for-4 with four runs batted in, while Sikora was 2-for-3 with three RBI.
Freshman Alex Sietsma (Glen Rock, NJ/Glen Rock) earned the win on the mound for the Lions yielding an unearned run on four hits. She also struck out six for her second win of the season. Adding to TCNJ’s offense were Rachel Greeby (Yardley, PA/Pennsbury), Danielle Hagel (Egg Harbor City, NJ/Oakcrest) and Colleen Cawley (Riverton, NJ/Holy Cross) as each player picked up two hits.
