TCNJ INDOOR TRACK TEAMS HIT ECAC MARKS AT NY ARMORY


New York, NY… The College of New Jersey indoor track and field teams performed well in its final tune-up prior to the conference championship as the Lions competed at the Rider-Lafayette Invitational. The meet, which featured mostly NCAA Division I institutions, was held at the 168th Street Armory in New York City.

The Lions will compete at the New Jersey Athletic Conference Championships on Monday, February 25 at the John Bennett Indoor Track Complex in Toms River. TCNJ has dominated the indoor championships as the men’s and women’s teams have each swept all 10 titles since the championship began.

Men’s Highlights…
Senior Brian Kopnicki (Scotch Plains, NJ/Scotch Plains-Fanwood) had a ninth-place finish in the mile as the Lion finished with an ECAC time of 4:16.31. Freshman Tom Bucchino (Toms River, NJ/Toms River East) also had a strong showing in the mile with a time of 4:28.17.

Junior Kyle Alpaugh (Clinton, NJ/Voorhees) claimed a top-10 finish in the 5,000 meters as he finished with an ECAC worthy time of 15:26.74 placing ninth.

Senior Brian Donatelli (Whitehouse Station, NJ/Hunterdon Central) had an ECAC toss of 15.63 meters in the weight throw to finish ninth in the field of 31 competitors.

In the 60-meter high hurdles, freshman Peter Gallo (Warren, NJ/Watchung Hills Regional) turned in a personal-best effort of 9.01 seconds.

Women’s Highlights…
Senior Erin Enderly (Ocean Township, NJ/Ocean Township) placed 10th over in the 3,000 meters with a time of 10:40.22, which met ECAC standards. Sophomore Kristen Wallace (Emerson, NJ/Emerson) just missed meeting the ECAC cut as she crossed the finish line in 10:54.02 placing 17ht.

TCNJ has two runners finish in the 25 of the large field in the 60 hurdles as sophomore Priscilla Senyah (Sayreville, NJ/Sayreville War Memorial) ran the race in 9.58 seconds and Kirsten Gerbehy Califon, NJ/Voorhees) finished in 9.71. Senyah’s time met ECAC standards with Gerbehy just missing.

Junior Julie Ullmeyer (West Long Branch, NJ/Shore Regional) just missed an ECAC cut in the mile as she finished the race in 5:18.98 to place 19th overall. In the 400 meters, freshman Alexandra Tomaselli (Hillsdale, NJ/Pascack Valley) also just missed an ECAC time as she finished the race in 61.64 seconds.

In the weight throw, the Lions had two place in the top 20 as sophomore Ashley Krauss (Flemington, NJ/Hunterdon Central) was 13th with a throw of 12.50 meters and freshman Sarah Wehrhan (Dodge City, KS/The Peddie School) was 16th with a heave a 12.00 meters. Krauss also turned in a personal-best performance in the shot put with a toss of 11.28 meters, just missing an ECAC mark.
