Chuckles for the Day: Blondes and Football

A guy took his blond girlfriend to her first football game. They had great seats right behind their team's bench. After the game, the guy asked her how she liked the experience. "Oh, I really liked it," the blonde replied. "Especially the tight pants and all the big muscles, but I just couldn't understand why they were killing each other over 25 cents." Dumbfounded, her date asked, "What do you mean?" "Well, at the beginning, they flipped a coin, one team got it and then for the rest of the game, everyone kept screaming 'Get the quarterback! Get the quarterback!' I'm like, Hellooo - it's only 25 cents!" Submitted by KenMac Read more →

Pet Tips by Allan: Teaching an Old Dog New Habits

Here's Today's Joke: Why do dogs run around in circles? Because its too hard to run in squares. ********************************* It is always a lot easier to teach a puppy the right things to do when they are young, but it is not impossible to eliminate the bad habits of an older dog. The first step obviously is the need to make sure the dog understands that you are the master so you can gain it's respect and then you can start the process of training the dog so that it no longer performs the unwanted actions. It is important to address only one thing at a time and not try to change the way your dog responds to different things all at once. The way you will get an old dog to change is to show it that there is a better outcome from the new behavior pattern than the... Read more →

Longtime writer Dougherty is recipient of first Fred Bear award

Pat Durkin column: Bowhunting legend lives on through award http://www.greenbaypressgazette.com Some of us are old enough to remember when deer were few, bows and arrows were novelties and bow-killed deer were considered feats of luck or incredible skill. Many folks forget that, until 30 years ago, cars and trucks killed more deer by accident than bowhunters did on purpose. As a result, archers forever were trying to earn respect for their equipment and their craft. The man most recognized for proving and publicizing the effectiveness of modern bows and arrows was Michigan's Fred Bear, who was not only a skilled archer, but also a masterful manufacturer and communicator. During the 1950s and 1960s, Bear hunted big game around the world with bows he designed for the Bear Archery Co., and then broadcast his feats on national TV and published them in books and magazines. Bear didn't establish bowhunting's legitimacy alone,... Read more →

Letters: Regarding "Steven (ph) ville" UFO sightings

Probably the same family by the reports but almost comical that "they' chose a town with my name in it. You will enjoy reading today's articles about it in the Ft. Worth Star Telegram. On Saturday afternoon, about 50 people who saw impossibly bright lights in the skies about nearby Stephenville 12 days ago gathered in Dublin to talk about what they saw with interviewers from the Mutual UFO Network. The witnesses were swept into whirlpools of media representatives carrying video cameras and at least one "posse" from a Dallas radio station, whose members were intent on blocking the front door of the meeting room to take pictures of themselves wearing aluminum-foil hats. And there were the circling curiosity seekers. read entire article... Read more →

Hunting & Fishing: Goodbye Deets

source www.emporiagazette.com Phil Taunton Friday, January 18, 2008 The hunt, despite high winds and especially being in the company of an old high school friend, was great. ’Twas the shooting that was bad! Reflexes aren’t what they use to be. The main goal of this hunt was to explore Kansas, eat a good steak and to be in front of a TV come Tuesday night to watch one of the Comanche Moon episodes. I won’t go into explaining how painful it was getting out of the chair at the motel to get a little refreshment during commercial break. Even though cramps and old age were wreaking havoc on the legs of both my friend and I, we can still laugh about it! Being somewhat of a history buff, I enjoy stories like Comanche Moon. It’s hard to fathom what life was like back then with all the obstacles early settlers... Read more →

The drunk muttered in response, "Well, I'll be damned," Then returned to his paper. The priest, thinking about what he had said, nudged the man and apologized. "I'm very sorry. I didn't mean to come on so strong. How long have you had arthritis?" The drunk answered, "I don't have it,... Read more →
